Visitors for the Weekend

Now, I'm sure you're all thinking, how fun, visitors. But believe me, none of you want the visitors we had for the weekend! Friday after swim Hannah told me her head itched, I thought it was sunburned so I took a look. Well, to my horror, it wasn't a sunburn. Yep, you guessed it, she had lice. Oh, I thought maybe that could be one thing I could avoid as a mom. I had it as a kid and I thought that was bad enough. I'm sure, many of you may not be able to read on any furthur. And some of you may think, gosh stace don't you wash your kids hair? So first I'm starting a new support club. If or maybe i should say when your house ever gets these creepy crawly visitors and you want to break down and cry, because you have to sit and pick and comb for 6+ hours/per child and wash all linens, clothes, really anything you own in hot, shampoo everyone else's hair just incase, make dinner, cry some more, pick some more, wash some more, vaccumm mattresses, oh and did I mention cry, well then you can call me! I will be there to pick, wash, make dinner, you name it! I had a nice support group. Grandma ordered take-out two nights for us. Another friend that confirmed my worst nightmare drove to the store to get the RID kit and answered every question I had, (she had visitors a few months ago). As soon as it was confirmed lice I called all of our best friends like the one Hannah had a late night with the night before, the friend whose house she'd played at the day before, and the family whose house I teach swim at, since they'd done her hair a couple days before! I was afraid at first to admit that lice had entered our house. I mean that's what you get from the dirty kid at school, right, well I guess wrong, apparently lice like clean hair, see if I encourage my kids to bathe anytime soon. And with the RID kit costing over $20 for one or two washes, it must be as nice as some of my salon shampoo. Maybe I'll stop buying biolage and start using RID! So, don't be too grossed out by this post, know that our house is probably the cleanest it's been since we moved in, and when the little guys come to visit your house, you know who to call! Just a plug for my fantastic husband, he couldn't have worked faster or harder in RIDing our house of the little buggers. I think it was a bit self-interested, but hey, he did it none the less! The picture is of Hannah and her lice do, we had to section about every 1/2 inch and comb through and remove the eggs, two different times. She was such a good sport!
