Craigslist and the night we almost died....

I came home last night to Brent looking online for moving boxes. We do live in the foreclosure capital of the world I believe, and that leads to a lot of people moving all the time. He had bought 18 boxes for $40 earlier that day from Uhaul but knew there must be a better deal out there so off to Craigslist he went. Being the resourceful man he is he found a guy who would sell us his once used lot of 125 boxes for $60. A much better deal and he could return the unused Uhaul boxes in the morning. They guy lived about 20 min. from our house. I went with him to retrieve the goods out in the middle of nowhere. As we were driving down the loose gravel road with no houses in sight we turned to each other and hoped we weren't walking into the craigslist box hunter....you know those Craigslist stories and we were about to be the next victims. How would our kids go on, who would watch over them. All those things were running through my head as we kept pressing forward hoping that the end of our lives wasn't at the other end, just a really good deal on boxes.

We found the house and met a nice old guy with a really intense cigar smoking habit! We made the exchange of funds for the nice boxes. As we left and were about 5 minutes down the street the smell was overwhelming. We had just bought 125 boxes FULL of cigar smoke. Oh no, not such a great deal after all!

When we got home we inspected every box and separated them by smell, the good, the marginal (to be used for items that wouldn't absorb the smell), and the bad that were left on the driveway for another unsuspecting victim!

We ended up with most just fine and are packing away furiously. We want to be sleeping in the new abode by Friday....

Trophy Wife

Ha ha, I know what you're thinking from my title, but we all know I'm not that kind of a trophy wife! I'm the one who keeps trophies from 4th grade and packs them around her whole life until yesterday. Brent can handle the cabbage patch dolls and the now vintage barbies, but he had the look in his eye, like really, come on Stace, when I wanted to keep the trophies through another move.

It's two of my glory moments in my life. I feel sort of like a "super senior" and know I should just let the dream die. But before I do I will relieve this moments one more time...

These two trophies represented really good times in my life. One was when I was in 4th grade and on a traveling competition soccer team in Massachusetts. I can still remember traveling to this tournament and staying in a host house with other girls from local teams. It was great. I can remember my dad screaming "run, Stacey, run" at me up and down the sidelines. And I remember when we were give the trophy for the runner-up spot in the tournament. I'll never forget! The glory days of 10 years old....I was awesome!

The next trophy is from when I made my debut as Bianca in Shakespeare's, The Taming of the Shrew. I don't think I had more than three lines in the whole play, I just had to look dumb and ditzy and blonde for the whole time and gaze longingly at the boy I was in love with, don't remember who! So the inscription says to a terrific Bianca, which I was....I can still make those awesome looks today! The training was worth it and prepared me for my future!

All right the dream is over and the trophies are in the garbage thanks for the trip down memory lane, more to come in a few moments/days ahead!

So I should be...

I should be doing a lot of things right now, but instead I'm going to blog. We found out on Sunday that we'll be moving to Gilbert this week. Yes, I know sort of sudden but it will be good for now. It's just temporary while we look for a more permanent situation. So once again we are going through all of our "garbage" or "treasures" and sifting through and getting rid of more, it feels so good! Maybe it was all the days my mom made me sit with Maria and clean out my room, but something sunk in and I just want to throw it all away! (Could be because I know we're going to be moving again soon and I don't want to have to pack it again!) So in an effort to throw more things out I've been taking a lot of pictures and will blog about them so then I'll have them forever in my mind and can carry them with me in my virtual world forever and don't have to physically move them again! So on to the posts....
