We've got another fish!

Emily said she wanted to swim this winter, so we put her in the swim school we love! It took her a couple weeks to advance to the next class. Just had to get the breathing to the side down. Now they're working on butterfly and breaststroke! I'm going to have two kids that swim better than me a in a matter of months! Here's a link to her graduation announcement!

Ahhhh Sisters...

So we have this sort of joke or saying now about sisters and how well they get along! Brent asked me probably three years or more ago when Liz and i started getting along. Took me about three seconds and I said probably when she got married. I then asked Liz when I was talking to her the same question and she replied with the same time period. Although I was quite a mean big sister, I'm the first to admit it, I couldn't live without my sisters now. So I hope that these three little girls will grow up and find the friends in their sisters that I have in mine! Here's some cute pics I took of the oldest two this morning before we left for swim.
They even played and did funny faces and were getting along quite fabulously. It didn't last all day, but I'll take my moments!

Emily Soccer

Emily played soccer with the Higley schools after school program. It was great. One of the 3rd grade teachers and aunt to one of the kids was the coach. She was great! Very low key and fun for Emily's first soccer experience. She says they were undefeated, not quite sure how accurate that was, but I hope all the 1st graders are telling all that they were undefeated!
She actually played a little too, especially when she was forward. Defense tended to be a bit boring for them and she and the other defenders would dig in the dirt!

It's Gone

Emily lost her first tooth last night. It was pretty fun because she was so excited. I actually got woke up this morning at 6:30 with her jingling the bag of money she got from the tooth fairy. The tooth fairy actually visited both girls last night. Hannah had lost a tooth about two days before and the tooth fairy was a little slow, we think she must have known Emily's tooth was on it's way out and was saving herself two trips to the our house! Emily got 50cents more than Hannah, I think because it was a first loss. She's so cute and smiles all day long with her new smile. It's so weird that she's growing up and losing teeth. She's always had the most beautiful big smile and I can't believe it will never be the same. It would be a little sad if she wasn't so excited and didn't stop showing us her new grin, she's pretty proud!

The tooth fairy left the tooth thank goodness because if she takes it to school she gets a special tooth holder from her teacher and she was very worried that wouldn't happen! Thanks tooth fairy for sparing us the tears!

First day of school 2009. About a week before the girls were supposed to start school at the school in our new neighborhood I got a job as the librarian at a school about 15 minutes away. At first we were going to keep them at the community school, but that would have meant more time alone and away from me and it just didn't feel right when they could come with me, so we enrolled them at my new school and they got about two more weeks of summer.

Emily started 1st grade this year and Hannah is in 4th. Now that we're into the school year a couple months I can say I'm very glad for the decision we made. They've done great at their new school. I am very pleased with their teachers and I get to spend time with them in the car each way and before and after school. I get to be involved in their education and still get to see them when they get sick and am right there if they need me. It's worked out really well. We're hoping Rie will get to go with us next year! I can't find the picture of her first day of school, but when I do that post is next!

Kindergarten Graduation

Emily and her BFF Emily on graduation day with their diplomas!

Yes, the names aren't a misprint, they're both Emily's!

Emily graduated from Kindergarten on May 22, 2009, the last day of school. It was a fun day. The graduation was in the morning so Brent went into work late so he could be part of the festivities. I was pretty much done with my job, doing the library inventory and scanning all of the books, that's another topic for another post. Some of you know that Emily was an early entry kindergartener. She should not have gone to Kindergarten until this coming school year, but Brent and I both felt like she was ready. It was a scary decision, because it's one of those life long decisions, but we are SO HAPPY we made that decision. She had such a wonderful year and I think is ready for 1st grade. She did hide that yucky bunny in her bag most days and take him to school. Thank goodness for her teacher Ms.Lin who was the best and thought it was cute. Personally I wouldn't have taken it, but I guess that's why I'm not a Kindergarten teacher!

Brent and Emily enjoying cookies after graduation!

Congrats Emi, now on to 1st Grade!
